What residential treatment looks like at Elijah's House

Residential treatment is where the real work of recovery happens. You're away from the triggers, the relationships, and the routines that fed your addiction — and you have the time and space to actually look at them. Our residential program runs 30, 60, or 90 days depending on clinical need, with full medical oversight and a daily structure that balances therapy, group work, physical recovery, and rest.

What sets us apart isn't a treatment modality — every accredited program uses CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care. What sets us apart is what happens between the modalities: the home-cooked meals, the morning walks in the gardens, the swimming pool you can actually use, the catered chef who learns your name, and the staff who knows you as a person, not a chart.

Therapeutic modalities

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
  • Trauma-informed care, including EMDR for trauma processing
  • Motivational interviewing and stages-of-change work
  • 12-step facilitation, AA, NA, and SMART Recovery groups on-site daily
  • Family therapy and family weekend programming
  • Art therapy, mindfulness training, and somatic experiencing

Frequently asked questions

Residential treatment questions.

How long is residential treatment?

Most clients stay 30, 60, or 90 days. Research consistently shows that longer stays produce better outcomes — but the right length depends on your clinical needs, your insurance authorization, and your personal circumstances. We'll help you figure it out.

Can my family visit?

Yes. We have structured family programming and visiting hours that fit into your treatment schedule. Family therapy is a core part of our program — addiction affects whole families, and recovery works better when families heal together.

What's a typical day?

Mornings start with mindfulness or a walk, breakfast, then group therapy. Midday brings 1:1 therapy and lunch. Afternoons rotate through outings, art therapy, fitness, or specialty groups. Evenings include AA or NA meetings on-site, family-style dinner, and downtime.

Do you treat co-occurring mental health conditions?

Yes. The majority of our clients have a co-occurring condition — depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder. Our integrated dual diagnosis approach treats both addiction and mental health simultaneously, with psychiatric care included.

What happens after I finish residential?

We help every client build a step-down plan — typically PHP or IOP at our estate, followed by outpatient and aftercare. Same property, same clinicians, no break in care. We also have an active alumni program.
